Description
Circa 1815. A quality mahogany sofa table probably by’ William Trotter of Edinburgh’, the rectangular top in fine figured mahogany, the two drop flaps with rounded corners and ribbed fore-edge, the front with a pair of drawers with ebony turned knob handles and stylish flower head carved escutcheons with beaded panels to the sides and beneath. The back of the sofa table with similar faux drawers, resting on a pair of rectangular uprights with beadings on all sides, braced by a turned and fluted and tapering stretcher, all supported on a pair of platforms with scrolling on both sides and beaded panels with scrolling turned feet beneath with concealed casters. The table has excellent colour and patination with great style and elegance.
