Description
Circa 1920s. A large double buffet by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh, with several Sir Robert Lorimer features. The solid top with a small ledge to the back and simple moulded fore edge. To the front there are two banks of three long drawers which graduate from top to bottom, some of the drawer interiors are fitted out. Each of the drawers have two carved handles which are profusely carved with flower heads and foliate carving. Beneath the drawers there is a shaped and flared apron with oval burr walnut panels. The gables with mirror matched mahogany and are slightly flared towards the base. The whole piece rests on 5 carved cabriole legs, with foliate carving on the tops and on the fronts and finishing on a classic Lorimer pad foot.
