Description
Circa 1840, exhibition quality, early Victorian burr walnut davenport desk. The back with an open brass gallery and in a finely figured walnut, over a flap with burgundy embossed hide writing surface. This opens to a birds eye maple interior with locking and secret drawers, and the side has a beaded panel door, opening to 4 graduated drawers with finely turned knob handles. The front with foliate carved buttresses, all supported on a shaped platform base over neat bun feet with hidden brass castors.
