Description

Circa 1820. An early mahogany chest of drawers probably by ‘James Mein of Kelso’, the mahogany top with rounded corners, frieze with elegant quilling on the front and sides, with the rounded fore-edges carved with stacking rounded quadrants, with a configuration of three short over three full length drawers, all retaining the original brass locks with simple escutcheons, a beaded fore-edge and cast brass lion mask handles with a ring through the mouth, beneath the bottom drawer is a simple beading, all resting on four stylish fluted and turned feet.
