Description
Circa 1840. An oval oil painting of a lady contained in a gilt frame. The oil on canvas which has been laid on a board for protection, depicts a seated lady with a headdress with elegant curtains in the background. There is a small brass plaque in the bottom, “Elizabeth Wardrop, wife of David Crawford of Cessnock Bank”. The oval painting is contained in a gilt frame with a simple concave section, further carved and gilded mouldings on the outside finished with a fine beading. The top is surmounted by a foliate casting with smaller similar on the bottom.
