Description
Circa 1840. An Early Victorian camphor wood rectangular trunk/kist. The solid top with insert brass plaque, not engraved, insert brass quarter brackets and strappings to the sides. The deep lid with two flush military handles and two locks (working), opens to reveal an uninterrupted interior with a brass locking arm and the remnants of the original makers name. The sides with a pair cast brass swan neck lifting handles, with brass strapping and open dove tails evenly spread to the sides and the front. The base resting on a slightly raised foot. the trunk/kist has excellent colour and patination.
