Description
Circa 1820. A quality oak and granite-topped console table by ‘Alexander McKenzie and Company Glasgow’. The thick rectangular pink granite slab above an inverted breakfront frieze, raised on scrolling guilloche-carved front leg supports, terminated on a realistic paw and claw foot, resting on a trestle base, with the name stamped twice to the frame.
FOOTNOTE – Alexander McKenzie and company had premises at 87-89 Buchanan Street and amongst other commissions, supplied the furniture to the New Club, Edinburgh.
