Description
Circa 1860. George III style mahogany and inlaid chest of drawers of diminutive proportions, probably a sample from an apprentice or a cabinetmaking workshop, the rectangular top with string inlay and oval shell panel in the center with inlaid panels in each corner, the front with a configuration of two short over two longer graduating drawers, each with string inlay and heraldic escutcheon with cast brass knob handles, the fore-edges are canted and inlaid, beneath the bottom drawer is a shaped frieze to the front and sides with string inlay framing, resting on four bracket feet.
