Circa 1825, unusual George IV freestanding folio table or folio cabinet. With a tan leather, tooled top with a mahogany ratchet for height adjustment and it is also possible to lock it in position, with a removable book-rest which can be stored inside. With ebonised edges to the top and adjustable shelves, above two L-shaped pieces of wood with mahogany studs holding them in place. Flanked by classical columns with carved flower heads, ring turning and tapering down to a base with beaded fore-edge, on squat feet with cast brass castors. The book slide opens to 124 cm high.
