Description
Circa 1840. Inlaid 19th century mahogany and satin birch Dutch commode. The top with central panels of satin birch with rosewood, ebony and walnut banding, and with outset corners above a single frieze drawer with cast brass handles and escutcheons and panels of parquetry and Chinoiserie style inlay. The two doors with Chinoiserie decorated panels and foliate decorations opening to a shelved interior, all interior and drawer linings in solid oak (sign of quality). The corners with neo-classical pillars with ormolu (gold-covered bronze) capitals. Supported on inlaid tapering supports over small brass feet. In excellent condition.
