Description
Circa 1930s, unusual continental brass chandelier with decorated porcelain shades. The chandelier has a fixed arm above and chain with a cable, with the fixed upright in the form of a tied ribbon spreading into a large circular area from which 6 shaped arms are fixed. The arms have asparagus finishes on the top and a curled section in the centre with flower heads that rise up into a candle holder. Above this are 6 individual porcelain lamp shades with flat tops and an opening circle that spreads outwards. Each of these has a small pattern which has been cut into the glass depicting a rural scene. The other side of the lamp shade has embossed trestle work on it. The lamp shades sit on a small metal cradle with the bulb beneath them. To the bottom of the chandelier are 4 cast brass and gilded ropes which are tied beneath.
