Description
Circa 1890, Qing dynasty Chinese darkwood plant stand. The top with its petal shaped and pink variegated marble insert which follows the form of the outside of the top. It has a simple chamfered edge and small frieze with open pierce work spaced throughout and beneath this a slightly flared apron with typical Chinese foliate carving. The table stands on 4 legs, each with a carved mythical primitive dragonhead at the top. The side of the legs are beaded with foliate carving down the front. There is 3 concave stretchers towards the bottom of the legs, uniting the legs and giving the stand stability. It finishes on a animalistic ball and claw foot.
