Circa 1930, stylish and unusual carved mahogany serpentine fronted showcase. The top with its serpentine front and sides, carved fore-edge and apron beneath this with flame mahogany. Below this in the centre there is a convex door with an oval flame mahogany panel, framed with carving on the top and the bottom. The door is lockable and has a wonderful cast brass lock with very stylish escutcheon. Inside there are 2 shelves. Left and right of this door there are 2 concave pieces of glass and unusually the doors on these cabinets are at the sides. There is a single glass shelf inside which can be adjusted and the walls are lined in fabric. The front of the cabinet has canted corners and is well carved with flower heads tapering down. Beneath the cupboards there is a full length serpentine drawer with a stylish escutcheon and Rococo cast brass handles. The whole piece stands on elegant carved realistic claw feet with carved foliate quarter brackets. The feet at the front are in line with the chamfered corners and the ones at the back kick out both left and right. The cabinet is a neat size, great colour, very stylish.
