Description
Circa 1815. A rare, stained beech and leather-topped console table by ‘James Mein of Kelso’ with insert burgundy tooled and gilded leather with banding, supported on the front by two scrolling reeded legs finishing on an animal foot, the back legs are turned, ring turned and tapering, resting on two platform bases joined by stout stretchers, the underside of the table with the original label for ‘James Mein of Kelso’. Originally, the table would have been scumbled.
