Description
Circa 1890. An exhibition quality 9-piece carved and inlaid satinwood bedroom suite. Comprising of a four-door breakfront wardrobe with moulded cornice and various carved sections and double frieze, with a pair of doors to the middle with oval panels, profusely inlaid. In the base two further doors with square panels and further inlay, these are flanked by a pair of full-length doors with wonderful inlays including rosewood, quarter fans, floral marquetry and bell drops. A carved frieze separated the top section from the bottom, the gables are also paneled, all resting on an enclosed plinth. The other pieces include, a marble top wash stand with pink variegated marble, the upstand with a large oval marble panel, pierced pediment with foliate carving, and drawers in the frieze. Pair of inlaid bedside cabinets with marquetry panels. A pair of hand-chairs with stylish uprights. A large cheval shaped dressing table, mirror with similar pediment to that of the wash stand, satinwood towel rail, and a double bed with upholstered headboard, with wonderful marquetry panel on the tail-board, with its original side rails and horse hair covered base.
