Description
Circa 1860. An early Victorian mahogany two- part brass bound military chest, with rectangular top with cast brass quarter brackets and a brass band in the center, with a configuration of two drawers over three variable sized full-length drawers, the top right-hand drawer retains the original Bramah lock and opens to a secretaire drawer with a tooled gilded leather insert, bordered in burr walnut with a lift out slide, behind which reveals various pigeon hole drawers and a full-length drawer, all the drawers have flush brass military handles and simple escutcheons, with a brass strapping on each fore-edge, the chest comes two pieces, the bottom section rests on four elegant tulip bun feet.
