Description
Circa 1850. Superb burr walnut Victorian harlequin (pop-up) piano-top davenport in perfect condition. The pop-up top with a three-quarter brass gallery and mirror matched figured walnut with satinwood fronted drawers and pigeonholes. The shaped piano-top flap opens to a sliding writing surface with pen rests and further drawers, and hidden spring mechanisms. The right side with drawers with figured walnut fronts, finely turned knobs and mahogany drawer linings (a sign of quality), the opposite side with faux drawers. With a polished back & the front with cabriole supports above a platform base with turned feet with hidden brass castors.
