Description
Circa 1890. An exhibition quality Sheraton style mahogany and inlaid Carlton House desk of traditional shape and form, the profusely inlaid freestanding desk, with the flat top with multiple inlay and two shaped and inlaid apertures for posting personal letters the sloping sections each centered by a large inlaid urn with multiple inlays, the flat surface with leather inset, with a bank of drawers and two concave doors behind, the frieze with three drawers all with multiple inlay with wonderful cast brass and gilded handles, the sides and back with multiple inlays, all resting on four square tapering inlaid legs with tapering hare bells on the facing. The desk has great colour.
