Product Description
Circa 1890, Chinese Qing dynasty hardwood marble topped plant stand/pedestal with a wonderful stylish shape. The raised top has concentric segmented sections forming a circle with a rouge variegated marble centre. There is a form of gadrooning on the fore edge of the top, and beneath this a wonderful raised collar which is tapering and concave in shape, formed of panels which have carved flowers with berries. There is a carved bezel and four very elaborate legs carved with dragon heads on the top, open fretwork quarter brackets and finishing in a carved toe. The legs are held in position by a raised cross over stretcher with open fretwork and crowned in the centre with a solid block carved almost like faux bamboo. Wonderful colour and excellent style.
