Circa 1980.A large hooded Orkney chair. Known in the local dialect as a ‘Heided Stool’ of traditional form, with the oak straw bound and finished in with twine, the drop in seat pad finished with marram grass, shaped arms held on rectangular uprights which continue down the side of the frame, the front with a full size drawer (for holding the Bible or Whisky! with the maker’s name in pencil inside the frame, resting on 4 classic Orcadian square legs with a slight chamfer on the inside. £1,85
