Description
Circa 1800, George III Windsor chair. In elm and ewe, it has a shaped top rail held in place with 4 spindles on either side, and these continue down through the arms of the seat. The arms are held in place by 2 shaped uprights and 3 spars, with unusually, 14 further spars to the back of the chair. The scooped out, solid ash seat contains the splat, spindles and splats, and the legs have a turned section to the top, ring section to centre and tapers down. They are united by a curved stretcher and there are old repairs to the seat.
