It opens to reveal a red leather writing surface and outstanding fitted interior with: shaped drawers, book slides, neoclassical pillars hiding secret compartments and cupboard with shell carved door. Beneath are 4 graduated, oak-lined, cock-beaded drawers with fretted brass handles and escutcheons flanked by quarter columns with gilded capitals and bases.
