Description
Circa 1870. An exhibition quality mid Victorian carved mahogany gothic style chiming long case clock. The hood with trefoil crenellations and carved oak leaf panels and crotchet spire mouldings, the sides with gothic trellis sound panels, enclosing a brass dial with silver Roman numerals chapter ring and gilt floral engraved mask with three winding holes, a silver second dial and blue steel fleur-de-lis hands. With levers for different tunes, above a moulded and glazed Gothic arch door on a stepped plinth with quatrefoil details, the three-train quarter chiming movement with pull repeat, to a pinwheel of eight steel chimes and an additional strike chime. The case in excellent condition, clock recently serviced and working perfectly.
