Description

Circa 1760. A quality early George III mahogany chest of drawers. The top in figured mahogany  with simple moulded fore edge, the chest has a configuration of two short over three full length drawers, the drawers beneath the top  2, graduate from top to bottom, with  cast brass swan neck handle with circular back plates, originally these would be gilded, the drawer liners are in oak. Beneath the bottom drawer there is a further moulding and the chest rests on four quality bracket feet. For similar examples see Christie’s sale at Dumfries House, postponed, 12 July 2007.
