Description
Circa 1680. A large portrait of a young boy and girl wearing very fine clothes. The background, indistinctive, but it looks like trees, with a small lamb with sprig of vegetation in its mouth. The painting which has been re-lined is held in place by a gilt slip with a gilded moulding outside, all contained in a large ebonized frame with a gilt beading on the facing. The painting is that by a provincial follower of John Michael Wright, painted in about 1670-80. The house mentioned on the label is near Wrexham on the Welsh border.
