Description
Circa 1970 A mahogany framed Orkney chair made in Sapele wood. The hooded chair of oak straw finished with marram grass facing, fixed to the Sapele mahogany frame, with a drop in marram grass seat, shaped arms supported on simple uprights fixed to the frame with brass screws, the front has a full-length drawer, with cast brass swan neck handles with a pierced and shaped back plate, the chair rests on square legs with chamfer on the inside. Known in the local dialect as a ‘heided stool’.
