Description
Circa 1860. A top quality mid-Victorian profusely carved hall bench, the solid back with moulded top with stylish pattern on the frieze with four raised solid oak fretwork panels all framed with flower head rondels, the full length hinged seat centered by a large carved circle with flower-head and foliate scrolling carving on each side, the seat opens to reveal an uninterrupted interior, the back supported by shaped uprights with arms terminating with carved mythical wolves, the base with two rectangular panels similar to the back flanked by carved pilasters, all resting on four squat feet
