Description

Circa 1820.  A rare and unusual mahogany combination wardrobe/chest of drawers in figured mahogany, two full length doors which rise slightly above the center section capped with an elegant stepped cornice with a mixture of mahogany and ebonized mouldings, the doors with fielded panels with include beadings, pilasters and a mixture of flamed mahogany and plump pudding mahogany, has the original gilded cast brass knob handle and inside a polished brass lock.  In the center there is a combination of two short drawers over four full length drawers.  Each drawer has matching cast brass and gilded handles with flower heads on the facings and an elegant backplates, rounded escutcheons and ebonized step beadings.  The inside of the drawers are in quarter sawn oak with elegant rounded munters to the center.  The base has a simple beading and the press stands on six squat ebonized bun feet.
