Description
Circa 1815. A rare stylish and unusual burr elm Teapoy probably by’ William Trotter of Edinburgh’. The pagoda shaped top with a raised faceted section with a classic trotter beading above the concave facings and two raised ends, the deep lid opens to show an interior fitted with 6 apertures with the lettering A, B, C and D on four of the six openings, the inside of the lid is lined in velvet, the front with a simple escutcheon, as the curved body comes to the flat there’s further beadings, supported on a tapering rectangular stem, resting on a concave platform base with 4 circular bun feet with concealed castors beneath, all with wonderful colour and patination.
