Circa 1900, French ormolu mounted and marquetry bureau plat. The shaped top has a central inlaid panel which is inlaid into a quarter veneered section and has a very stylish border in the Rococo style with various different coloured woods. The edge is crossbanded in walnut, and all this is held in place by a cast brass bezel with fine casting and elaborate brackets on the corners. Beneath the top is a large single drawer which is shaped in the form of an apron and has marquetry similar to the top. The sides and back has similar inlaid panels. The whole piece stands on four elegant cabriole legs with cast brass mounts at the top and sabots at the feet. Neat and good condition.
