Last quarter of 20th Century, pair of Chinese hardwood barrel shaped stools. The stools have a solid inserted top and stylish moulded edge which continues down and tapers outwards as it continues down the top of the barrel. The construction of the barrel itself is made of lattice work with 4 ties between each of the separate strands forming oval loops continuing around the entire piece. The barrel shape continues out and tapers back towards the base. The base is similar to that at the top without the insert and finishes on 4 typical Chinese simple V-shaped piece. The underneath at the top has a cross over stretcher to ensure that it stays sturdy.
