Description

Circa 1790. A good Scottish George III mahogany and inlaid fold over tea table in the manner of ‘Bruce and Burns’. The D shaped top with well figured mahogany, broad satin crossbanding which is framed in boxwood and ebony. The top is hinged and opens to reveal a richly coloured interior. The two back legs are hinged and sweep out to support the top when open, frieze with full-length drawer with string inlay, with an elegant swan neck handle with simple pommels and pierced and decorated back plate. Two oval panels on each side, with further string inlay. The table stands on four elegant square tapering legs which are framed in boxwood on all sides and finishing with a simply framed extended spade toe. The table has great colour and patination.
