Circa 1860, a hand-painted porcelain figure of James Quinn as Shakespeare’s character Sir John Falstaff. With brass sword, on rococo base (sword has been re-attached) and imprinted Derby Porcelain mark to base (similar to Derby porcelain marks). This figurine was a popular subject and adapted over time by the Derby factory (with similar example seen in Victoria and Albert Museum) and was of the foremost British actor James Quin. He appears as Falstaff, a character from Henry IV and The Merry Wives of Windsor by Shakespeare.
