Description

Circa 1910, mahogany serving table/hall table by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh of monumental proportions. The rectangular top has wonderful chosen veneers and caddy edges. Beneath the top is a simple stepped moulding over a concave moulding with flame mahogany veneers. Within the apron are two full length drawers with mahogany liners and stamped inside with the makers name. Both drawers have a pair of cast brass gilded swan neck handles with a stylish back plate. Beneath the drawers is a half round moulding and the table stands on four heavy carved cabriole legs. At the top are foliate carved quarter blocks and carved knees which runs down the front of the legs, and legs finish on large hooved feet. Wonderful colour and patination. The proportions and maker make this a very desirable piece of Scottish furniture.
