Description

Circa 1900, Sheraton style mahogany inlaid serpentine fold over tea table. The shaped top with its double string boxwood inlay. The fore edge has multiple inlays, satinwood, ebony banding. The top opens to show a mahogany inside with a single string inlay. Beneath the top there is a deep apron with a satinwood panel at the front with an oval mahogany inlay veneer which is framed with satinwood and ebony. There are further panels of mahogany on the sides. At the top of each of the legs there is a satinwood block which is inlaid. The 2 back legs are hinged and swing out to hold the top in place when the table is open. The table stands on 4 elegant turned fluted and tapering legs. At the base there is a ring turned section, a slightly bulbous section and all finishes on raised toes.
