Dated 1902, oak and EPNS mounted writing slope. With solid oak hinged top, chamfered corners and a presentation plaque to the centre stating ‘Reading College, To Douglas A. Gilchrist, Esquire, BSc From the past and present agriculture students, June 31st 1902’. Inside is a Moroccan leather insert with small apertures for holding the biros and pens. It has an EPNS escutcheon and Gothic style lifting handles, and the remnants of a makers label.
