Circa 1920, very unusual and stylish marble topped rosewood and gilded console table. The marble top with its unusual inlaid panels on the front and sides in the form of diamonds with various semi-precious stones or marbles. Below this there is a deep apron which is in rosewood, with canted corners at the front and framed with a gilded bezel. At the base there is a mirror back and the whole piece stands on two wonderful scrolling cabriole legs with carved gilded acanthus leaves on the front and flower heads on the sides, finishing on scrolling feet with a mixture of gilding and rosewood. This stands on two extended raised sections with a moulded edge and the whole piece stands on an enclosed plinth. Very elegant, stylish piece of furniture.
