Circa 1900, French cast brass peacock fire screen. With an elaborate lifting handle which is crowned with an acorn, and elaborate casting to the main body including a cherubs head, swags, tails and foliage. On the back there is a similar pattern without the head. Several decorated mesh sections expand out from this and follow the same shape as the main body, giving the impression of a peacock tail and are used as a fire screen. The casting continues towards the base of the stand and there is a small spread at the bottom of the base, providing stability. At the sides it stands on enclosed plinth feet.
