Circa 1930, large hand painted Calton Ware ginger jar on an earlier carved Chinese stand (circa 1910). The bulbous jar is stamped with the makers name and two numbers on the bottom, and initials perhaps of those who painted it. The beautiful blue vase is covered with Japanese style gardens, pagoda topped buildings, birds and various people. The dome top is decorated with deep painting almost in the style of Chinoiserie. The base itself is Chinese and there is a harmony between the jar and the stand.
- Vase 32cm high x 26cm diameter. Stand 6cm high x 23cm diameter.
