Circa 1880, small and unusual French lift top occasional table. The shaped top has various satinwood, walnut and rosewood veneers formed in a parquetry style, and is encased in a ribbed cast brass and ormolu mounted bezel. The top is hinged and opens to reveal a mahogany interior with a mirror on the lid. Below this, the bombe shaped body is in a light form of seaweed marquetry and there are wonderful foliate castings on the corners. The table stands on elegant crossbanded cabriole legs finishing on ormolu mounted sabots, and there is a concave shelf near the base with a parquetry panel similar to the top. There is a retailers label on the bottom for Druce & Co London. Stylish, elegant, neat sized table.
