Circa 1880. An unusual American walnut and burr walnut folding rocking chair. The shaped back with a burr walnut inlaid panel, with scribed carving and a pierced frieze. The back and the seat are upholstered in bergère cane work, the shaped arms are hinged in two locations to allow the chair to fold. The seat has a shaped carved frieze in the front, with has multiple stretchers beneath, the chair can be folded into a small unit.
