Circa 1870, Victorian walnut and burr walnut inlaid Canterbury whatnot. The rectangular top has double string inlay, canted corners and is finished with four carved finials. Beneath the top are four turned columns and beneath these again is a flat section with double string inlay and contained within these frames is a three division Canterbury with open fretwork on the each side. The fretwork is quite stylish and is carved in geometric and foliate designs. At the bottom is a single long drawer with double inlay similar to that on the top, two knob handles and on each side of the drawer is a canted corner. The whole piece stands on four elegant bulbous turned legs finishing on brass and brown porcelain castors. Neat size, good colour and condition.
