Circa 1870, a large teak kist with stylish cast brass quarter blocks and strapping on the front and base. There are also extra brass reinforcements on the top. The kist has painted on it the number 6 and written on the top ‘Murray S.S. Pegu, Leith’. The top is hinged and opens to reveal a zinc lined interior. Below the top there is a simple brass escutcheon and the rest is uninterrupted teak with open dovetail joints on the fore edges. Number 6 written on the sides again and two iron lifting handles. Substantial storage, good colour and patination.
