Circa 1870, mid Victorian oval shaped burr walnut and inlaid snap top occasional table. The oval shaped table has a quarter veneer burr walnut top, and a large foliate marquetry panel in the centre inlaid with flowers all the way around. The top is a snap top and opens to show a small brass clasp at the back which locks into a block beneath the top. The column of this table is unusual. It is a cluster column and as it continues down it opens out and shows a centre section. So you see here the column is visible in the centre of the open spread almost in the form like bentwood. There is a circular walnut bezel beneath this and from this there are 3 carved cabriole legs. These are held in position on a circular block and beneath this a small simple half round finish. The table is an interesting piece and has quite a lot of sophisticated inlay.
