Pair of Mid Victorian Satin Birch Captain’s Chairs


Product Description

Circa 1870, good pair of mid Victorian satin birch captain’s chairs. The backs with the raised top splat, which is carved and shaped, continues to become the arms. The arms finish with a small turned section at the end, and are held in place at the back by two tapering and reeded uprights and at the front by two turned balustrades. Both chairs have stuffover green leather seats which have recently been recovered. The back legs are square and kick out towards the back. The front legs are bulbous, turned and tapering finishing on a raised turned foot. Both chairs are light in colour with good patination. A very sturdy, stylish pair of chairs.
