Circa 1870, French marble top and mahogany side table. The table has a red variegated marble top, over a single drawer with a very stylish cast copper escutcheon in the form of leaves and berries. It has the original key and lock, and inside the drawer are solid oak liners. The table stands on 4 elegant square and tapering legs with a brass collar at the top, almost in the form of gadrooning, and a very fine rope twist brass beading on all four sides of the legs tapering all the way down. There is a single shelf at the base enclosed with a mahogany frame and brass bezel, and a wonderful trellis on all sides as a retainer. The feet are enclosed with cast brass acanthus leaves giving the piece a very elegant and stylish look. Neat size and very desirable piece.
