Description
Circa 1880. Late Victorian oak Gothic-style bookcase with lovely original colour and patina and in excellent order. Surmounted by architectural cornice with crenated mouldings and a simple frieze, the upper section with two arched glazed doors with engraved external Gothic brass hinges and flanked by gothic style columns with capitals. The base in quarter-cut oak above a frieze drawer with brass handles and twin doors with vertical slats and Gothic hinges flanked by fluted columns, opening to a shelved interior over an enclosed plinth base.
