Circa 1840 with adaptations, pair of exhibition quality early 19th century mahogany open bookcases. The rectangular top in figured mahogany and with rounded edges sits over a deep frieze with an arched and fluted moulding. These lead on to fluted pilasters at the sides with deeply-carved acanthus capitals. They have two adjustable shelves and all stand on an enclosed plinth base.
