Description

Circa 1870, unusual French rosewood marquetry and ormolu mounted cabinet on commode. The top section has a gilded fore-edge and to the front a Rococo style pediment (cast and gilded). Beneath is a concave cornice with rosewood veneers and a series of beadings and mounts above a serpentine glazed door. Internally, it is lined with fabric and unusually the interior roof and back is veneered in rosewood. A shaped chest of drawers is beneath this with bombe marquetry panels either side and with rococo handles. It has an ormolu mounted apron and stands on rosewood veneered cabriole legs, the front ones with cast and gilded sabots.
