Circa 1820, George IV mahogany 3 step commode. With a mahogany frame, the 3 steps have carpet fabric and the top tread is hinged, opening to reveal a small interior. The facings between each of the top 2 shelves have a mahogany panel with ebonised inlay which has a canted corner. The 2nd tread has banding and a pull out beneath which reveals the original commode and then at the base there is a 3rd step. Beneath the 3rd step is a deep apron which continues around the sides, and the whole commode stands on a combination of ebonised mahogany turned and tapering feet with ring turnings. The sides of the commode are also polished.
